CHICAGO – APRIL 23, 2013 — Practice management software developer BigTime Software, Inc. has announced that it has joined the Business Resource Network of the BDO Seidman Alliance, a nationwide association of independently owned local and regional accounting, consulting and service firms.
BigTime will provide access to time and billing technologies that can help BDO Seidman Alliance member firms advise their clients on ways to streamline their business processes, increase efficiencies and expand business opportunities.
Tom Takasaki, Director in the Business Resource Network at the BDO Seidman Alliance, said BigTime’s inclusion in the network is part of the Alliance’s objective of offering small- and mid-sized accounting firms a competitive advantage, giving them the ability to leverage the resources of BDO USA, as well as access the capabilities of other Alliance members, to cost-effectively expand services to their clients.
“Technology is a key component of what we offer our Alliance members,” Takasaki said. “We strive to establish relationships with those product and service providers that can offer the kind of forward-looking capabilities our members can apply to their own operations, as well as use to enhance their value as a trusted advisor to their clients in today’s business landscape.”
BigTime, one of the established leaders in the time and billing space, is one such provider, Takasaki continued. “BigTime’s coming on board will augment our ability to provide members with the tools they need to help their clients more easily track, manage and invoice their time.”
Brian Saunders, CEO and founder of BigTime, said: “BigTime is a great tool out of the box. But in the hands of someone who really knows how to put it to work, it becomes a true enterprise-class tool. We looked for a long time for an association with the singular combination of reach and experience offered by the BDO Seidman Alliance, so we are excited about what this relationship means to BigTime customers.”
Mark Sandor, National Sales Director at BigTime, added: “It’s a win-win for our customers. Thanks to this relationship, if a firm in Seattle wants to get into government contracting, or take on budgeting or staff allocations, they no longer have to go it alone. The BigTime know-how they want, along with the industry-specific expertise they need, will now be available locally.”
Complementing BDO’s reach, BigTime brings an enterprise-class tool to small- and mid-sized organizations that need the power and flexibility of a larger system, but can do without the price tag associated with those systems, CEO Saunders said. “What happens when a firm outgrows time slips and spreadsheets? Easy to acquire tools that are SaaS-based, like BigTime, are a natural next step. Plus, these tools can scale as a firm continues to expand.”
Providing Small- and Mid-sized Firms with “Big Firm” Tools
“The software is an ideal fit for BDO Alliance member clients because our focus has always been on developing tools that help entrepreneurial business owners run their firms smarter, faster and more efficiently,” said BigTime’s Sandor. “BigTime’s features have been fine-tuned through continual feedback and communication with our professional services users, many of whom are small- and mid-sized accounting firms.”
BigTime’s industry-specific features include seamless integration with a firm’s unique workflow, billing and tasking, and easy time tracking in an online timesheet format from any desktop or mobile device. Expenses can be managed from one place, no matter if they originate in an accounting system like QuickBooks or are created in BigTime. And invoicing is simple, with more than 20 printed styles and eight industry billing formats offering advanced rate tables that can be modified to fit a firm’s specific needs.
Joining the BDO Seidman Alliance is just the latest initiative for BigTime, which last year launched a no-cost referral network called BigTeam to help accountants create new revenue streams. Earlier, BigTime announced an OEM licensing agreement with Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ: INTU) under which the firm will work with Intuit to embed BigTime’s core time, billing and practice management functionality into a product that targets accounting professionals.
